SuVenir Project

The SuVenir Project was born from the collaboration between Articity and Maddalena Vantaggi’s Ecodesign Course at the Pietro Vannucci Academy of Fine Arts. The project involves students specializing in Territory Brand Design and five Articity Workshops, including the “Atelier Giuditta Brozzetti” by Marta Cucchia, “Mogré” by Monica Grelli, “Materia Ceramica” by Maria Antonietta Taticchi and “A Mano Libera” by Stella Lupo.
The SuVenir Project’s aim is to create an experimental workshop based on the collaboration between students and craftsmen. This will lead to a new way of seeing and promoting the territory, through artisan design. In particular, the students’ task is to design a Souvenirs Line representing the territory.

On November 12, 2020, a Workshop tour introduced students to artisans’ production methods, identity and needs. The students were asked to design a souvenir to be offered to every shop. Each craftsman decided whether to leave the students full freedom, provide them with some guidelines or propose a collaboration with other ateliers: students also had the possibility of creating a hybrid piece, made of leather and ceramic, for instance, or paper and fabric or other materials.
This project is an interesting research and development opportunity for craftsmen, who have the chance to create new prototypes, and for students, who can get to know handicraft. Articity wants this project to be a lasting collaboration, in order to create more and more sustainable and innovative souvenirs.
